A ziggurat is a form of temple, created by the Sumerians and common to the Babylonians and Assyrians, pertaining to the time of the ancient Mesopotamian valley and built in the form of terraformed pyramids. The format was multi-storey built on top of each other, with the differential of each floor having smaller area than the lower platform on which it was built - the platforms could be rectangular, oval or square, and their number ranged from two to seven.
